Owens Jr., who tragically passed away in a car accident on November 10, 2025, in Chilton County, Alabama. At only 19 years old, James’s sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, teammates, coaches, and friends.
A proud native of Tuscaloosa and a beloved member of the Huntingdon Hawks football team, James was known not only for his strength and athletic ability but also for his kindness, humility, and leadership both on and off the field. As a decorated defensive lineman, he was a player who inspired others through his dedication, discipline, and teamwork. But beyond his talent in athletics, James stood out for his character — a young man whose integrity, compassion, and faith guided everything he did.
James’s coaches and teammates describe him as a “towering presence of kindness,” someone who encouraged others and led by quiet example.
