It is with profound sadness that the hockey community of Alliston, Ontario, mourns the tragic passing of Tyler Gagné, a beloved player, teammate, and friend whose life was cut far too short. Tyler, a former TNT Tornadoes player and a valued member of the Essa Eagles U18 Rep team, was known not only for his exceptional talent on the ice but also for his leadership, humility, and genuine kindness off it. His sudden passing in a tragic accident has left teammates, coaches, friends, and family heartbroken, as they remember a young man whose love for hockey and zest for life inspired everyone around him.
Tyler’s journey through the Essa Minor Hockey Association and his years as a TNT player reflected his deep passion for the sport. From early morning practices to competitive weekend games, Tyler brought an unwavering commitment, contagious enthusiasm, and sportsmanship that earned the respect and admiration of all who played alongside him. His dedication to the game went beyond performance — it was about teamwork, camaraderie, and the pure joy of being on the ice.
Those who knew Tyler best remember his bright smile, quick humor, and kind-hearted nature. He had a remarkable ability to lift others up, always offering encouragement to teammates and lending a helping hand to younger players. Both on and off the rink, Tyler embodied the true spirit of hockey — teamwork, respect, and heart.
In honor of his memory, his teammates will wear the number 41 on their helmets throughout the 2025–2026 season, a symbol of the impact he made and the legacy he leaves behind. Tyler’s absence will be deeply felt in locker rooms, at the arena, and in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
To support the Gagné family through this unimaginable loss, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been established. All proceeds will go directly to his family to assist with expenses and to celebrate Tyler’s life in a way that reflects the love, laughter, and kindness he shared with others.
The entire hockey community stands united in grief and remembrance. Though the jerseys we wear may differ, the bonds we share through the game make us one family — and today, that family mourns one of its own.
Our deepest condolences go out to the Gagné family, Tyler’s teammates, friends, and all who loved him. May his memory live on through the sport and the people he so deeply touched.
